I guess that's one of the few blessings of living in a state where there is only 2 seasons: HOT & NOT SO HOT.
LOL, anyone recommend any good bankfishing spots for cats in the N/NE area?
wow, musta been the temp this weekend. Guess I need to start finding some hideaway ponds and rivers
Jesse, cat time is here. I caught 13 on sat. 4 which qualify for the catch and release program. the biggest was almost 20lbs.
There's a few places for good size cats...on 1604 heading towards 90 from SW High School, on the last curve before you get to the Dominguez unit , on the left and also on Pearsal Rd. the bridge by the Knights Of Columbus....good sized and good eating !
gonna look this spot up. cant get any boats and my buddy from austin wants to do more catchin than fishin
ok I found the bridge area by the Knights of Columbus on Pearsall, but I'm not so certain about the first location on 1604. I see where the Dominguez unit is, but on google earth, there's quite a few bodies of water on the left that I'm looking at in addition to a creek/river. Helpy??
Hey Roddie, good to hear from you. On 1604, it is the bridge that goes over Medina river. You can access it from either the left, which is safer, as you head to 90. You can pull over on the right hand side, but your vehicle is exposed more to traffic than the left, which has a larger "off the road" area. I guess it all depends from the direction you are coming from.... If you come up 90 west, you will turn to the left and pass the Dominguez Unit. About 1 mile from there, as you go over the bridge, the parking space is on your right. Be careful as it comes up quickly, you can always turn arond ad go back. You still have to walk down the embankment, but it is safer than the other side.... Patience and good moving water be with you !
Thx intexas2, i'll dedicate my first catch to u!!! (knock on wood)
Any luck this weekend? I hope you caught a few at least?..............
Jesse did you read the seven deadly in the mag. by keith sutton. he was commenting on baitsand said you coulndn't catchbig cats on anything but live or cut bait. I don't know how big the channels get in my home lake but I get 20 to 30 lb. cats each yr. got 1 last week close to 20 on chick liver. When they are hungry I don't think they care.
