Perch or Bluegill?

I guess I've started something last weekend, when we discussed the difference between Perch and Bluegill. Most Texans call a Bluegill a Perch, which they are not. Here are a couple of pictures of those two. The first is a Yellow Perch, the second the Bluegill. I hope this helps a little.PhotobucketPhotobucket

those yellow perch or lake perch are some of the tastiest fish around. been eating them all my life. even though they travel in schools, they're kinda dumb and easy to catch

Too bad we don't have them down here. I'll come your way some day and you can teach me how to catch them.

If you make it up to Michigan, we'll go to Lake St Clair. you name it we got it. Perch, largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, pike, muskie

I could go for some pike. It has been over 20 years since I had the pleasure of fighting one of those. It took me about an hour to land a 30# pike at a small lake in Germany. Whew, that was fun.

I heard a lot about them Walleyes and Perch. Would like to try for those some time.

Come down here and we show you a great year round fishing season.

Walleye and Perch are from the same family. Caught a mess of Perch up in MN one year. They all averaged aroud 1 to 1 1/2 pounds apiece. Darn things tasted just like Walleye. I'd take a Walleye or a school of pan size perch to anything else anytime.
